WOO X Pro offers two margin modes for perpetual futures trading. Choosing the right mode is essential for managing your risk and capital efficiency.
1. Cross Margin Mode (Default)
In Cross Margin mode, your entire account balance (for that margin asset) is shared across all open positions.
- Shared Pool: All positions draw from the same margin balance.
- Profit Offsetting: Profits from one winning trade can automatically help cover a losing trade, preventing premature liquidation.
- Supported Collateral: Supports multiple assets (check the 'Manage Collateral' section).
- Risk: In extreme market moves, a single position could potentially lead to the liquidation of your entire account balance.
2. Isolated Margin Mode
Isolated Margin allows you to restrict the risk of a trade to a specific amount of funds.
- Dedicated Margin: Each position has its own allocated margin. If one position is liquidated, the rest of your account balance remains safe.
- Precise Control: You can manually add or remove margin to a specific position to adjust its liquidation price.
- Supported Collateral: Currently, only USDT can be used as margin for Isolated positions.
- Liquidation: Triggered when the position's Margin Ratio falls below the required Maintenance Margin.
How to Switch Margin Modes
- Navigate to the Futures trading page on WOO X Pro.
- Locate the 'Margin Mode' dropdown (usually found near the leverage settings in the Order Entry widget).
- Select between 'Cross' or 'Isolated'.
- Confirm the change in the pop-up window.
⚠️ Important Note: You cannot change the margin mode if you have any open positions or pending orders for that specific trading pair. You must close all active trades and cancel all open orders for that pair before switching.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which mode is better for beginners?
Isolated Margin is generally recommended for beginners as it limits the maximum loss of a single trade to the amount you specifically allocated.
Can I use both modes at the same time?
Yes, WOO X Pro allows you to have some positions in Cross mode and others in Isolated mode simultaneously for the same account.
Why is my Margin Mode button greyed out?
This usually means you have an active open position or a "limit order" waiting to be filled for that pair. Clear these first.
